Abstract
This report is concerned with our surgical experiences in 11 cases of the chronic constrictive pericaditis.
Clinical findings-dyspnea, hepatomegaly and ascites were cardinal, which were subsided within about one week after the pericardiectomy. Elevated venous pressure and low arterial blood pressure were returned to normal ranges postoperatively. Significant preoperative electrocardiographic findings showed, low voltages of QRS complex and flat or inverted T waves.
Etiological causes, were unknown, except for one tuberculous case proved histopathologically.
Four of 11 cases expired : two cases were resulted from bleeding by myocardial injury, and remaining two oases from the cardiac arrest.
